Several thousand Peterbilt 579 model trucks are being recalled for a step assembly issue that could lead to injury.

Paccar Inc., parent company of Denton-based Peterbilt, notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Jan. 21 of the recall of more than 3,500 model year 2022 579 trucks. The bolts that secure the chassis fairing step assembly in the closed position could loosen and fracture the latch attachment. The partially unsecured cab step could unexpectedly move and increase injury risk, according to the notification sent to NHTSA.

Truck owners will receive new fasteners and brackets free of charge as part of the recall. Paccar plans to notify owners of affected trucks March 19. Customers can reach Peterbilt customer service at 940-591-4220 with recall number 22PBA.
